W17D78 (Wednesday) . This is day 152 and as I began getting ready for school, and I am also thinking about the day in terms of what's going well and how I'm building both a body of work with the the younger students who are learning how to use the language of dance as they start to tell stories with movement. I am also thinking about how happy I am to be building a fully functioning stage crew, which has been my dream for year. At this point in the year, I have 31 students and they aren’t always engaged in work, but I still have a great feeling about connecting to each and everyone of them. I like them all. I like working with them. I even like it when they're just kind of hanging out with me. They have an ability make themselves useful a life lessons all young people need to learn. They are at once both affable and willing to try, which makes me proud and happy at the work we are doing. In many ways it functions as a leadership group, because they are not being expected to do busy work to learn; they are doing useful unless they actually have something to do with the show and that is exciting and wonderful and full of promise for the future. So today, as I get ready. I'm not so consumed with the idea of how to keep them busy as how to watch them and listen to them and give them some feedback.I'm going to use the TV today to show them their agenda so that if there's any questions, they can refer to it on screen.
