W7D32 (Monday)
The hardest day of the week is always Monday and I don't know why other than I always feel stretched in so many directions. Today I had a college troupe which came in to perform for 400 of our students. I organized it and it went amazingly well. But then my first grade class rolled around and it was so disorganized. It didn't feel like my most imaginative and I wasn't at my best. I started to read my book, Variations on a Blue Guitar and it has given me some understanding of my need to make education beyond the mere steps of a dance, or the words of a monologue. Arts education is important because of the way it allows students to gather and save their idea of culture. It gives students a feeling of both solidarity and individuality.
