By the end of the day (and I am choosing to blog at the end of the day, instead of the beginning) there are questions that are circling my imagination. My vlog (and what I like to call "rewind") is now occurring at the beginning of the day, and I have included it on this post.
On one note, I felt that my frustration came from the fact that I spent all my energy on the first 2 classes and had very little left for my afternoon classes. That seems to be the Monday pattern and in looking at my practice, and what I hope to accomplish this year, I feel that I need to take a step back to move forward. Since much of what determines if the students are going to be successful depends on social emotional learning, I am working on building community first this year, and not obsessing about what they know in dance terms yet. And even then the chaos and noise sometimes is overwhelming and hard to accept. But still I am persisting with the ideas. Imagination as a tool to overcome resistance.
Here is a photo of my focus student, participating. I am working to improve his participation and focusing on having his voice heard in class. Today's word was focus and firmness.
