Today I began work on my lesson planning and unit outline. Though I know it may change several times before it is set, this at least gives me a sense of beginnings. The focus of each lesson is the main part of my work and then from there I can infuse each lesson with elements from NDI as I see fit. None of this needs to be completed by the first day of school, but I do need an outline from which to work. I am going to rely less on my curriculum site (too many classes that don't need to be listed) and I feel if I upload something, it will always be available on the web which is a great help to me on days when I am trying to make sense of my ideas.
The first week will be dedicated to place (personal/general) which is always the basis of all work especially for the youngest students. First graders will have more control over their work, and as I get adjusted to my schedule I will know just how to do so.
As always, I am trying to think ahead in so many ways, that I might be overcomplicating the work, so this year, I am going to try to ease into a system of my work and its inevitable rhythms.
No where is this need more apparent than with my PACE classes which I know are just there for exploration, and less guided work. I will try to adjust into each of the classes as I begin, and during the semester.
