"Your problem isn’t that you’re angry. Your problem is that you think yourself in circles whenever you feel an unwelcome emotion."
I found this quote today and it relates to my word of the day (and possibly of the week)
Surrender
When I think of surrendering, it seems to be a passive act. And yet, when I have truly "surrendered" to a situation, it feels like an active choice. Yesterday as we were outside looking at Reclining Figures I was in the moment and unaware of others. I felt invisible (in a good way) and lost in the work. As I dug in, a tour guide with a group of Italian students asked me, what we were doing and I had this keystone moment that allowed me to share and facilitate. It was a breakthrough for me.
Thinking in circles is a problem with emotions and as an artist, the ego focuses on emotion and the human experience. Today on this last day, may I surrender to the process.
